I'm confused as to how he clipped a vehicle with his left leg. Why was he on the left side of the road?

Regardless of the incident sorry to hear and the best of luck in his recovery. I know some one legged riders.

He lives on a long residential/commercial road.

No one was around when he crashed, but from what was gathered, he was decelerating because his house was on the left and only a few hundred feet away. The vehicle he came into contact with is on the same side of the street his house is on... so I can only assume he was not planning on turning into his driveway, but maybe parking his bike in front of the house to grab something from inside... again, I am assuming this. He may have been speeding and braking hard coming up on his house and got too close... still, I'm assuming this.

All I know is he has been a good person to me and I think it was tragic for him or anyone to loose a part of you unwillingly. Also, he is a diabetic, so that plays a big part in his injuries and recovery.

Dang, being diabetic is sure as not doing him any favors on this one. I hope he recovers quickly and the complications are minimal. I know how stubborn people can be, just be sure and remind him he isn't iron-man and he better follow the doctor's orders to a "T". Nasty business right there and EXTREMELY tragic.

Tragic to hear, but thankful that the rider is still alive. Was the truck moving?

Thanks for the concerns everyone, he is scheduled to be released from the hospital on Tuesday of next week. Sounds like he is doing better... physically and mentally.

JC, the truck was parked in a driveway.
