Angry fair weather MOTOGP-COTA track marshals abandon post

I personally hope everyone who abandoned their corner is banned from working there again.

up .

We need way more people, and more experienced people next year.

Ya'll need to volunteer.

To be clear, what you see is two track marshals have removed their tabards and are slipping under the fence to go off..during a qualification.

This was a big problem!

They didn't come from my corner, but someone does.

One of my workers showed up on Sat, got all the way out to his corner and said F it.

Control knows who it was.

You need to be at the pasadena fair grounds this weekend. There will be more chubby than you can handle.

you get brought food and water at your corner

I will post up the link to apply when the time comes.

you apply online, very simple. They try to let people have the corner they want, and be with the people they want.

Those were the people from the temp agency that got brought in because we were short on people. I am not racist but they stuck out like a sore thumb, basically everyone there is into motorsport and these people had no clue what any of this was.

Did you send these pics to Jeanie or Tony, those people were paid and not volunteers or employees like everyone else.

what corner where you at? I can't tell from the picture?

I was turned off by the tracks application process. Seemed a bit elitist and an all in or nothing comitment, from what I think started at thurs afternoon?

That said, when the all call went out the first year, I showed up sat morning 6 AM with GA tickets in my pocket that went unused for the rest of the weekend.

It was a lot of fun, but to see them struggle with the same issues means they need to step back and reasses how they approach this.

One idea, pay people for their time, even track days treat people better.

Second, lots more people would do sat/sun but cannot comit to Friday or even thurs arrival.

If their that tight, at least offer money on Fridays, and give people an option for weekend only.

I volunteered the first year. It's a tough gig for volunteer work. If they put up volunteers in hotel rooms I think it would be much more worth it. Having to sit out there 3 days from 7 to 7 is a tough gig to be doing for free. We barely had any time to check out the vendors or anything else for that matter. Last year I put in to be a tire marshall or even a mule driver/rider driver and was turned down so I didn't go back. All the good jobs are taken. Sitting on the wall for 3 days gets old. My turn had some action but we were ready to go home when the time came. I'm not sure I really enjoyed it that much. I took off work (self employed) and volunteered for two GA tickets that went unused. And I thought it was somewhat unorganized...the best door prize was a signed helmet from Bilt...at least give away a nice helmet.

If they actually paid people, I would do it again.

I think what they need to do is stop giving away tickets and pay for the hotel rooms.

That way at least it doesn't cost us to be a volunteer. Not sure what you would do for local folks though.

I mean, I was working with guys from Minnesota, Michigan & Florida... they spent a ton just getting there, just because they love the sport.
