A few points to clarify here. Rossi won because he whipped everyone's , except for the Ducati of Dovizioso, who he just managed to beat. Marquez had no where near the pace of either...

As for why. Ducati built a better bike.

Dovis fastest lap of race was his last lap. Not to mention two tenths quicker than either REPSOL Factory Honda rider.

But it wasn't due to top speed advantage. Honda holds that, with MM and DP top speeds of 350kmh. The Ducatis and satellite Yamahas next at 345kmhr. The factory yahmaha both way way down at 340kmh, with the suzukis.

So needless to say it's not about top speed either, at least at this track anyway.

As for rules. Based on these two podiums plus last year at cota, Ducati now will have to run 22 liters from next race onwards. Factory bikes of Honda and yahmaha including their satellite riders are on 20 liters.

But it's it not all bad, as making the same power with less fuel is still good, because it means they are lighter at start if race as min weight is measured without fuel.

Next the tires. It is just the rear tire which is in question. they are hard, med, soft.

Factories without a win in 2013 use soft, and med. Other Factory bikes who did have a win in 2013,incld their the satalite bikes use med, and hard.

If Ducati gets 3 wins they must immediately switch to the med and hard choices for the next race.

Now things that are not lost. Freedom to continue to develop their engine, and a 12 engine rather than 5 allowance.

Softtware is also open to develop same as other factories up through mid season where they stop and start collaborating with their completions (the other factories) on writing next year's code that everybody on grid must use.

So as their pace was for real even loosing the softer qualifying tire won't hurt much.

In fact it may help. As they are currently prohibited from using the harder at all. So they only get one choice of compound that works for the race, while the others still have two possibilities to set up with.

Also the tire allocation means Ducati only can have at most 5 of the med while the winning factories get 7.

Nothing 'bad' about Nicky!!

Still quick, fantastic ambassador for the sport worldwide and it's the US GP.

Call it a Bayliss move if you like, will he win, no, unlikely but how good would it be to see the ex W/C back in Repsol colours at his home GP. I think he'd ruffle a few feathers personally but then I've always been a fan of the man.

Question.. How many points, or places in the mfgrs championship, should Aprilla be penalized by for building a bike with brake cables that got in Marc scissor hands Marquez's way?

Last time he did it, the offending motorcycle manufacture was penalized 25 points which nearly cost them the manufatures title as they only beat yahmaha by 8 points that year.

Poor Aprilia, it's not a pleasant sight at all seeing them struggle so............ how much must it irk them looking over at Ducati and seeing 'their' man responsible for Ducati's success

That's his choice, but if Honda does treat him like it's only because he allows them to
