Just sayin----

Where in this thread did you come up with the dumbass assumption that I was trying to save money? I was simply a dumbass for not paying attention to actually buying bike oil. Geeze - that was a total brain fart.

If you're going to be insulting you've got to do it about the right thing. How about I'm intelligent enough to make a great living and don't care about Wal Mart or $5 - but too stupid to pay attention and not to put car oil in a bike.....

See how I did that?

So - the bike runs great now. I'll go back and re-read the thread. Maybe we can meet up and ride, but I live very close to Galvesberg. Seems like the majority of MH members are on the north end. But I love a long ride. That's what it's all about, right? Oh, and going to the track which I have YET TO DO!!!!

Errbody watch out...we've got a high roller in the oil thread! All that cash and, based on posts in this thread, he doesn't know if he's retired or not!

Bro take some of that six figure retirement income and pay a shop to do the oil change.

Make sure you take it to a motorcycle shop...I feel the need to specify that for you.

Just my two cents on this.. I personally use Rotella T6 in everything in my garage. The Land Rover loves it and according to my LR tech this oil is very good for these engines. I put this oil in the VW CC also the 40 weight is perfect for these direct injection engines too. Now the VFR runs on this also.. This oil is by far the most diverse oil on the market and works in many more settings then just a Diesel Motor. I order this through amazon Prime and at just 19.89 per gallon I always have at least 2 on hand. Rotella T6 is JASO approved (Wet Clutch)

773H no. I can't retire....... yet. HA
I actually LIKE working on my bike - so, why not change the oil myself? But I don't do it to save money.
I'd like to change my own tires too - but i'd prolly put a car tire on it.
i've done it before but without a machine it's a real pain to not scratch up a rim.
The zip tie thing works great on the front, but it takes a lot of them. Not so good for the rear.
And for the sake of SHELLNUT - with all those zip ties, I don't think any money was saved vs taking it to the shop.

BUT I DON'T CARE.

You sound mad bro

I did my tires and saved big time. I am not sure where you buy zip ties, but I used about 1-2 dollars worth of harbor freight ones. Shops charge what? 130 dollars? that you could buy all the tools including the tire balancer and still break even the first time.

The shops I use are typically $30-35 for installation. Given the time it takes me to do it myself, my time's worth more than the cost to pay someone else.

This is how I tend to think about things. If I enjoy it, cool, I'll do it. If it's tedious and not expensive to pay someone for, I might as well just stay a few extra hours at work.

Also... Six figure salary high roller! Lol. 80% of the 22 year olds I graduated with from UH were offered six figures out of the gate... So yeah.

Can you tell me why you've decided to put T6 in everything you own?

Because he is rich, retired and just wasn't paying attention?

Honestly though if all he owns is diesel cars and a motorcycle, why not?
