Traffic

Oh man that was the longest it's ever taken me to get home on the bike. WTF is going on out there? 45N was stopped which bled all the way out onto 288. Split thru that and then sat thru traffic on I10W

Now you would THINK with all these back ups, by the time I hit the 290 HOV it would be clear....but no, no....backed up like an MFer too! FML it took 100 minutes to go 30 miles on a motorcycle.

Do any of you split on I10 or I45 downtown? I made progress here and there but the narrow lanes an 18 wheelers doesnt leave much room...

downtown in rush hour. If you're running north on 45, exit Scott and run St. Joseph's all the way down. It'll dump you back onto 45 past the 288 . The lights on St. Joseph's are pretty well synchronized and you can split fairly safely there. Just watch out for those buses.

It was bad in all directions. I work in the med ctr and live in Atascocita... all of my normal "escape routes" were overflowing with accidents... Nearly a two hour drive home... Sucked.

Problem is, I work near 288 and 45...surely if I am spending over an hour going from 288 and 45 to 290 and 1960, there is some king of other route i could be taking thats more laid back

Google maps. Houston, TX. Zoom to downtown. Click "X" to remove Houston. Click "Traffic." Look for red lines during the hours you want to travel. Avoid the red lines. New route found and problem solved.

me personally...

Live in league city, work in galleria area... Split when the flow of traffic is under 30ish mph and never any more than 15mph above the flow of traffic. This keeps me happy and the cagers semi-happy. My ride is still about an hour but if both feet are on the pegs then I am a Happy rider

Wrong philosopher. Cut me some slack bro, philosophy is not my strong point.

I'm gonna try to reroute on some backroads. Surely I can get home in 2+/- hours without having to hold in the clutch the whole time.

I do it if there is an emergency lane there, but if it's on the overpass areas, where they have like 2+/- foot between the car and the wall...it's a little sketchy. Right where you get on at 288 all the way up to the aquarium. Also where the worst traffic usually is.

Well I just tried that and in order to make the red disappear it gets bumped up to almost a three hour trip

Gee, don't you think I have considered that? That would be the obvious solution, but that's not an option.

I must have missed it. I've been on it from 5:10-5:30ish lately. Isle of man style.
