Anyone have a take on Shark helmets?

I am looking at buying a shark helmet. Does any have an opinion on these helmets? Are they any good?

Scorpion is not a bad alternative but honestly I prefer Arai.

they are good helmets but if you are going to spend the money I would go with an Arai or Shoei, all depends on how it fits your head.

Shark all the way. I have an RSR2 and love it. Flows sooo much air and the face shield is awesome. Don't have experience with Shoei or Suomy. I was going to get a suomy but they don't fit my head. I don't like the padding in the shoei lids.

I've got a few high end helmets collecting dust in my closet. . .the shark rsr2 is nice, but it doesn't vent 1/2 as well as my rx7corsair does. i love the fit and finish, but i don't wear the shark in the summer.

I would have a shark if it didn't smash my ears . It fit my head shape great but the ears were a different story. Go try on every thing and get the one that fits your head the best. It will make long rides more bearable if your head is comfy.

Liz,
Decent helmets.
But I'd recommend either Suomy or Arai for your head.

good enough for Miguel Duhamel, Corser, Fogerty, Barros and other big name pro racers... maybe the mag was giving away the cheaper models?

In the US people are emotionally attached to Arai and Shoei, they've ruled the market for years. Recently Suomy has made a splash, it doesn't hurt that they sponsor a healthy number of pros to get exposure. In Europe and elsewhere there are different brands that are very popular that nobody here would have heard of. Personally I find the shield mechanism on Suomy and Arai to be . Though the new Suomy looks promising. Shoei makes a fine helmet IMO. I own a Shark currently and I'm fairly pleased with it. If you like a Shark and it fits well I wouldn't shy away from it just because it isn't the Nike of helmets like Arai.
