FM 149 Road Work

FM 149 is going to be under construction for at least 2 years:

If you ride FM 149 to get from SH 249 to the forest, you've already seen the widening for the left turn lanes from old Spur 149 to FM 1488. That job's about 50% complete.

Road work at FM 1488 started Feb. 16th to build a $36M overpass for FM 1488 to go over the railroad and FM 149. This will take about a year and a half. Unknown if the stoplight will go away or turn into two stoplights.

Coming soon - a complete rebuild for FM 149 inside the forest.

**Watch for degraded road conditions in work zones.**

We noticed yesterday that they have cleared trees on either side of the road.

I saw that too, so I figured I'd give everyone notice. Plus trees are gone along FM 1791 in Grimes County heading north out of the forest. That job started Feb. 13, and will last a year:

Bad news - I just saw 3 bridges on lower FM 3090 will be replaced in early 2016. FM 3090 will probably be closed to thru traffic south of FM 149:

Welp..Fayetteville was really nice today. Thanks for the heads up. Livingston has some great roads if you haven't explored that area.

You're right - I did the ENTIRE east/north forest route yesterday: Cleveland, turn at Coldspring, thru Huntsville, pass Montgomery - approx. 200 miles. Nice ride.
