Gov. Perry signs measure requiring...

Seat Belts on School Buses
(6/08/07 - AUSTIN, TX) - All school buses will have to be equipped with seat belts that cover the riders' lap and shoulders under a bill Gov. Rick Perry signed into law on Friday.

The law applies to buses purchased on or after Sept. 1, 2010. Charter buses that are used to transport schoolchildren also have to be equipped with seat belts by Sept. 1, 2011.

The legislation was inspired by the deaths of two Beaumont high school students who were killed last year when the chartered bus carrying their soccer team overturned.

"This legislation will not only save lives, it will give parents peace of mind every morning their children leave their home for school and climb aboard a bus," Perry said in a statement.

No, it's not a bad idea. My thing is why does it always have to take an accident for to change? :BangHead: It kind of like, "How many motorcyclists have to pass away for him to at least give a **** about them to enforce more laws in their benefit?"

School Buses had 1 accident 2 deaths - passed new law
Motorcyclists had 100's of accidents and 100's of deaths - no change

It frustrates me.

He likes tight pants and cowboy hats. ooohh ohh He also wears cowboy boots. That means he is a Texan and that he cares about ALL Texans. Unfortunatly Motohickies are for Greaser Biker Types and Mexicans. So that means he doesnt care about them.

Gov. Perry Announces Harley-Davidson Expansion in Texas
$3 Million Investment Expands Plano Financial Services Operations, Creates 165 new jobs
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced that Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS) will invest $3 million to expand its Texas operations in Plano. The expansion will add 165 new jobs for a total employment of 225.
“Harley-Davidson’s expansion means more jobs, more paychecks and a stronger economy for the Metroplex and all of Texas,” Perry said. “Texas is a haven for job creation and a strong draw for companies looking to expand because our taxes are low, our regulations reasonable, and our workforce skilled.”
HDFS provides wholesale and retail financing, insurance, and credit card programs to Harley-Davidson dealers and owners. Founded in 1992, HDFS currently provides more than $3.5 billion in loans for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and related products, as well as single and twin engine aircraft. It employs 700 people worldwide with over 30% based in Plano, TX.
“Harley-Davidson’s decision to expand is further evidence that the Texas economy is growing stronger and that companies looking to grow and prosper are looking to Texas,” added Perry.
The governor, who has made economic development and job creation a cornerstone of his administration, noted that in the past year, Texas added 44,000 new net jobs while New York, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania and California lost a net total of more than 300,000 jobs.
The HDFS announcement was the latest good news from businesses announcing plans to expand or re-locate in Texas. Since January, Toyota and INFOnxx, a directory assistance service, announced plans for new San Antonio facilities that will bring thousands of jobs to the area. In addition, global teleservices giant Merkafon Teleperformance decided to locate its newest call center in the Rio Grande Valley, Samsung unveiled a $500 million expansion of its Austin chip plant, and Hewlett-Packard announced it will transfer 475 jobs from California to Houston.

That's as much information I can get. I would guess he wouldn't care for them.:eh:

It took 1500 people drowning in the North Atlantic for the shipping industry to finally start putting enough lifeboats on ships for every person. Its just the way things are done, though that doesn't make it right.

It is ridiculous that they waited this long to make it required but atleast they are doing it.

Crystal what law is it you want Perry to pass to protect motorcyclists from dying? The look before you leap law that requires drivers to look both directions before pulling out? Outlawing bikes? What can he do?
