Insurance??????

Okay I really need some insurance info from you guys.

I just co-signed a note on a new CBR600RR for my 19 yr old son who is in the army at Fort Bennings GA. I am shopping for insurance for his bike and I can't beleive the prices I'm coming up with $4 - $6000 per year!

Is this for real? I've now gone through USAA, GEICO, and Progressive. My jaw is hanging.

Do any of you have any suggestions? Is this what you pay?

Thanks,

Contact Pete with Farmers - he's on this board under the sponsor link. He helped drop my insurance (I just havn't made it out to him to finalize the paperwork - sorry Pete if you read this)

He seems to help everybody out on this board!

also contact Motorcycles Unlimited 281 444 0450 they will be able to help you as well. When I looked at a bike at 19 they quoted me 9k a year.... I waited a few years.

i cant believe its THAT high, but you do have a 19 year old kid on a crotchrocket, so you can expect to pay thru the nose for insurance, esp. if he has tickets on his driving record.

you can check with DAIRYLAND if you havent already, thats who i am with, but i doubt they will be much cheaper.

good luck finding something reasonably priced and thank your son for me for serving our country!

and PLEASE plead with him to ride safely. i am 41 and my dad still gets on me about riding a motorcycle.

Thanks for all the quick replys guys wow! Please keep them coming I'm going to keep checking.

Cyclesnoopy I appreciate your appreciation for serving our county. That's why I went through with this deal. He has been very responsible did well in school and is at the top of his company in all he does and he truelly just wants to serve our country. I wanted him to have some fun and this something he has been wanting. I tell him to be careful evey day and I'll tell him you said so also.

Thanks again,

When I was 20, I was paying $865 a year for liability, and full coverage option was $4,252 a year. This was on a 2 year old R1, and I had 5 years [street] riding experience. It is VERY expensive.. I went with liability + Theft + PIP for $108/mo.

On a side note: glad to hear that you're back in town Jim. when do you want to go track/dirt? The CRF is almost done!

Bike is bought and boy it is nice!

I've sent a PM to Pete but haven't heard anything from him yet.

Thanks Scott, the CRF is almost ready? I want to come see it. I might like to go to the track next weekend.

Man we need to get more of the SM's on the road.

See ya,

Oh okay so you don't have coverage on your seagull then right?
Did you you do anything special to get this coverage? Like are you on your parents policy or something?
