Ticking noise when running

Recently I've been noticing a ticking noise when my motor is runing, not sure what it is, not even sure if it's always been that way, so I'm posting the question here.

Any ideas what it could be? And is it a sign of something not right?

I've got a 2003 Ninja 250.

Thanks

The 250s typically don't have CCT issues. How many miles are on the bike?
Have the valves ever been adjusted?

It's a new to me 2003, since Feb I've put on about 2K miles, in total it's got about 3,200 miles on her. When I bought it the guy said he kept good care of it, but now I'm not sure what he did.

The front brakes also sound like their slightly rubbing against the disk too. Maybe a trip out to Motorcycles Unlimited is in order? Then I can finally meet the great Patrick.
