Maybe the question to ask is; who caused it to be taken away because they abused it?

Actually Chris removed it because a few people continued to abuse it.
If you're unhappy about it, direct your frustration of it's removal upon them.

oh snap, did I really say that?

its ok, I'll just edit it out............................waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaait a minute.

I'm with Tim on this one

And for everyone asking why, or who, or what. Go re-read through those threads that started with Evil Monkey's "how does sam ride" or whatever. I was not present for the majority of the threads and 1 got deleted, but i'm 99% sure that is what did it. that was the only DRAMA thread that i saw in the time we had the button back. and there was some editing going on.

Maybe there is a way to limit the amount of letters you can change in your edits.. make it were you have like 10 letters... bc the problem is just like scoot said.. "i say something then i go back and change it so the person i just talked about to 40 members never sees it"

and For The Record. It wasnt me.

We only had the button back one day before it got abused!

FWIW, I use the EDIT button to ADD things, not take back something I may have said about someone.

If I was man enough to type it the first time, I'm man enough to stand by it, or apologize for it. Nuff said.

For clarification, I have no real issue with post whoring, however I've heard from many potential members that they were turned off by it when they first accessed the site.

That is the main reason why I proposed the change to the "Chat" forum to the way it was awhile back.

I don't see why there is such an issue about it?

As far as the edit button, as a sponsor, I still have it, as do the mods, so it's not that big a deal to me personally, but I'm speaking for many other members who have mentioned it to me.

Perhaps a means of preventing it's abuse, seeing as how it seems to occur mostly in "Chat", is to make it unavailable for use in that forum.
I don't know if it's feasible, once again, just a thought.

As far as abusing this forum, IMO in the long run, if it continues to be a "drama fest" all of the time on here, the pendulum will eventually swing the other way, and a lot of the freedoms we enjoy on this board will be no more.

It's chat for a reason and there are titles too. If it doesn't have a moto related title, don't click it. Just keep scrolling. Just my .02.

MY spelling and gramer suck at times.
I liked the edit button to correct mistakes onces I posted a thread.

Or if I had additional information I needed to add to a post prior to submitting it.

Oh well

While you may not think it's a "big deal", apparently others do, allow them their say.
In reality, the whole deal is really indicative of a deeper issue, one that I outlined above.

The drama level has gotten so high here recently, that it has turned off many potential members to this site.

I'm certain that Chris and the mods will choose a direction for the site that will be best for the overall good of it's future. I'm simply proposing one possible solution.

IMO the edit option should just be removed for those who abuse the privilege.

Not a bad idea if it is possible...
