need help dirt guys

I just got a 99 rm 125 for a steal dude said it needed a top end I thought no big deal .. I took it apart and the cylinder was trashed so 400$ later it's back together and ran great for the break in and after that for about 3 min and I lost all compression. . I took it apart again and the cylinder and piston are trash again in the same spot as when I first took it apart . The top in the pics is new .. bottom is what I pulled when I got it.. the bottom has a circlip come out while he was riding I thought it happened again but they were both in tack where I installed them any ideas?? I'm new to 2 strokes and a Lil lost and alot

Me thinks the bottom is just as trashed as both of those pistons... Have you been in there to inspect and check tolerances? You might be even more after that, but tis the game we play. I hope you get it figured out bud.

What's the best way to check that .. the rod bearing has no up and down play but it has a very little side to side play .. maybe it's that ? And what's a good trustworthy place to rebuild the entire motor I don't have all the tools for the bottom end if it comes to that

Not knowing that exact engine let me throw out some ideas and questions:

What does the cylinder look like?
Did you send it out for replating? Did they check for cracks invisible to the human eye?
Did they match piston to new bore or you bought piston separate?
What does the other side of both pistons look like? Damage seems too similar to be a coincidence. Is damage on the side of power valve (if it has one)?
Maybe power valve is assembled wrong and sometimes contacting piston? Did you reassemble it like you found it or verify per service manual?

Yep. They will give you a firm price to rebuild it so you will know what you are getting into. They are actually much cheaper than many of the shops around town.

The cylinder will need work again I had it replated at millennium services .. there's a good gouge in it now .. I bought the wisco through mellinium to make sure it was the right one .. the power valve linkage was in there wrong wen I got it but I fixed that when reassembling per Manual the valve it self looks good still and has plenty of clearance when closed here's a pic of the gouge and the p/v
Not sure what to do .. does EBR repair cylinders or should I do it b4 I give it to them and do they warranty ? I can't afford to keep doing this and I just wanna ride lol
