No More Inspection Stickers...

Looks like after March 1 the new rule applies to motorcycles too. Only the registration sticker is issued even though an inspection has to be done first.
Bonus: no more extra sticker with holes in it.
Downfall: no more multi-year registrations.

Step 1: Get inspection as usual.
Step 2: Take "pass" form to tax office or grocery store to get a registration sticker.

Online registration works for step 2 also.

And no more additional metal plate to attach the inspection sticker.

Cops can tell if a reg sticker is valid with a quickness. Once an inspection sticker is on a window it's good to go. It will be a LOT harder to get a bogus inspection after the first. Not so much on a bike but any car 96 and newer will be a lot harder. The VIN on the inspection report and the VIN on your insurance must match to get a sticker. So unless your close with someone who is issuing reg stickers it will be tougher to get the "hot rod" legal.

I am aware they can. It will not stop people from placing that felony sticker on the window. They will just give another name when picked up and then catch and release.

the few shops I knew of have become extremely careful on who they passed

Stickers on bikes can be peeled off, not so much inside a windshield.

Better yet - get a custom plate that says "VOID" so you can use the leftover sticker from your car reg.

If you get caught, you could get a ticket for no inspection during the gap.
Inspection is supposed to be first.
There's a caluclator and a video on the website to figure out what to do if it's different by more than 3 months.

What if your registration is due before your inspection or vice versa?

i accidentaly let two months lapse between the two stickers, and i couldnt see waiting two months (illegally) for either sticker to "catch up" to do them at the same time?

Are cops being asked to stop writing inspection/reg tickets until the first of next year?

There is a grace period. If your tags go out this month but your inspection goes out in May, you can get your tags and won't have to reinspect until March 2016.

Technically, yes, but the FAQ page advises against it. Not sure why.

I just saw on the news last night people who have valid registration stickers today, but with expired inspection tags, are paying to have the new inspection done and then holding onto the form they will send in when the registration sticker comes due. They also showed the auto tech scraping the expired sticker off the windshield....well, now I know to just scrape the sticker in the meantime.... this way when I come across a inspection sting under a freeway U turn they'll never even notice I'm rolling dirty. WIN!

It's about time, no more issue with having an inspection sticker on the bike or car.
