cool pic but has to be staged. First of all, if you were to section a helmet like that, you would have already peirced the cavity. Secondly, if someone's head really did skid that much, there really would be nothing left of the rest of their body. Besides, how many skids happen at exactly one angle for that long?

May be legit, as that looks to be a hospital sink in the back ground. Although I agree it would have to be an odd set of circumstances to get a drag mark like that.

Heres the quote from what happened.

Apparently, there were cardboard boxes scattered over the freeway from some not securing them properly. As my brother was riding past, a box was picked up by the wind, hit him in the face. He fell backwards off the bike, and slid into an HOV lane where a bus was coming.
This is where people's skepticism start. The bus didn't quite HIT him. He slid under the bus (between the two front wheels, thank ) and some part of his clothes got hooked onto the bus. The scrape on his helmet is so deep and even because he was dragged by the bus until it came to a stop. If he had just come to a stop on his own, the helmet wouldn't be like this, but since it took as long for him to stop as the bus took, this is what happened.

Strap looks cut too. Which they would do in an accident like that...

His head must have pinned at a pretty unusual angle to grind down that part of the helmet

Pfft
It's on the Internet.
They can't put it on the Internet if it isn't true.

It's funny how people say not to buy a cheap helmet! This cheap helmet sure did its job.

Yeah, cause those Snell and ECE guys don't know compared to the good ol' DOT.

yeah, the story is (imho)

So in summary, the story is a "friend of a friend" and is based apparently from reddit. Oh yeah, totally legit.

Q: What's the difference between a $100 Snell certified helmet and a $400 Snell certified helmet?

A: $300

Fit, ventilation, graphics and quality of interior padding. None of which snell certifies.
That said, I typically don't buy expensive helmets. Middle of the road is all my head's worth.

reminds me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 when Leatherface sawed that guy's head in half while driving!
