Lap timer mounting

What is the best way to mount this Michron Lap timer?
There is now mount like the picture below.
I'm stumped

How do these timers work. Are they self-sufficient (do you push a button at the end of every lap) or do they rely on a beacon set up trackside? That is one thing I love about the ZX10s... they have timers built in!

beacon setup.

u can mount it on the gastank, mine covers the speedometer.

I can never remember to push once I passed my stationary point. Besides it is in accurate because you could be early or late plus you lose concentration.

the mychron swifte posted is what i use, $250, if i remember correctly. the xtracing is about $179. haven't priced a beacon, because someone gave me one.

I got the XT Ultra, seems to give alot more info than the others, it comes with velcrow to put it on your bike, dont worry it wont fall off. You dont need a beacon, be like me and off buddha or who ever has one. Thanks all you beacon owners.

The 675 has a timer built in but the Honda didn't.
