Hey, maybe I've just got an incredibly lazy SF agent. But yeah, the rates you posted you got from SF don't sound bad at all.

Why don't you try our sponsor Tuan?

He normally beats everyone's prices...even other SF agents!

Got an online quote from progressive at over double the quote from SF. Getting another one from an actual agent, will update.

In my accident that i had 2 years ago i was paying about $136 a month or so and i had i think it was like $30,000 PIP. And i had state farm and currently do. I personally love state farm and have been with them and my dad has been with them ever since he moved to america. Ill take the higher rates because in the end when it came to helping me and giving me the money i needed, i got it in 2 days.

I know a couple of friends who have been in motorcycle accidents and have gotten their stuff stolen and theyve waited a couple of years before they even recieved a check. Just my experience.

That was a while back, he went to another agent.

But as of last year, hes back with SF with a new agent.

He never stopped selling insurance though.

State Farm was far cheaper than progressive for me. I shopped rates at least once a year. Usually 2x a year. Once Allstate was cheaper

Some good information from people in this thread. I'm an independent agent in TX and can tell you that 9 times out of 10 there are better prices out there. it's the nature of the beast. I was a SF Agent for about 5.5 years and it's a great company.

Having seen the independent side, where I have 30 companies to shop policies through, I can honestly say it's a better gig for most clients. You can have an agency and build report with an agent just like with SF or Allstate or Farmers. The difference is with an Independent agency they usually will shop your policy through many different companies and get the best rate available.

Most of the time I'm able to blow SF out of the water when it comes to rates while offering great service and policy coverage options. Some people just want that red ID card and brand recognition. I understand.

When it comes to your liability it's often insufficient to carry only the minimal liability. The state Mandates 30/60/25 and varies by state. What this represents is the amounts (in thousands) that the insurance company is obligated to pay on your behalf should you have an accident and it be your fault

Bodily Inury Liability | This can be med bills, lost wages, transport, pain & suffering, this is to cover both real & punative damages.
30 / person | Meaning if you're at fault the Ins comp will pay up to $30k per person that you've caused to incur a loss.
60 / Accident | Meaning if you're at fault the ins comp will pay up to $60K per accident for bodily injury. It can pay policy limits on the per person side twice or can pay $10k for 6 people. and so on and so on.
Property Damage Liability | This is the property that has incurred a loss due to your negligance. The auto, truck, mailbox, building, or any number of other items.
25 / Property Damage | Meaning if you're at fault the Ins company will pay up to $25k in property damages for which you're liabile.
Liability is intended to create a barrier between the third party claimant and your assets.
Some of us have worked very hard to own a nice home, motorcycle, cars & create a nice livilhood for our family. Ideally you'd like to have a liability dollar for every dollar of property, every dollar in the bank and every dollar put away for retirement.

Some of us are still very young and while we have not amassed a collection of property or bank account status we have the ABILITY to earn. Make no mistake, this is an asset just like any real property you can own.
Like someone pointed out earlier the increase in premium to go from 30/60/25 to 100/300/100 is usually only a few dollars a month. If you ever have a policy limit claim, and forbid you do, you'd want your policy to not stop at 30k.

If a judgement happens against you for $1m and you have 30/60/25, that doesn't remove your responsibility of repayment.

I know i know. TLR but hopefully someone gets some info from it.

That's not even checking equivalent coverage on auto, that's going from 30/60/30 coverage with SF to 250/500/250 on the auto policies. I don't understand why SF is so much more expensive, even after all the discounts I'm supposedly getting. I shop around motorcycle insurance about yearly, and no one has been able to beat Progressive in the 7.5 years I've been riding. Just now realizing I need to be shopping home/auto as well.
no one comes close to both of my home policies (like a grand a yr)....use Mutual Liberty for both. Autos with them also, but they are comparable to the Farmers premiums I was paying. Moved to Liberty Mutual just to keep everything but bike on one policy.

2500 or 5000 are normally your choices. That's why your carry medical coverage and pip pays your deductibles

So far Nationwide seems to be the best in terms of home coverage for what I've checked, and they're pretty close to all the other auto coverage that's beat state farm (lower by $500/6, even increasing coverage from 30/60/25 to 250/500/100), and I'm waiting to hear back what the combined discount would be. I'll have to shoot a PM to some of our forum agents and see what they can do. The last guy I had been messaging with took my info and I never heard back from him with any info.
