Weird moto insurance instance...

I've currently got 3 bikes insured through Progressive, and I have been considering adding my mini bike to the policy, as the first step in getting it registered for road use.

I go onto Progressive's site and run a quote on adding the Z50, no other coverage changes, and they say my yearly premium goes DOWN $62. When I look at the individual motorcycle premium breakdown, the Z50 costs me $12 to insure for the year (liability only), but it appears the addition of a 4th bike brings the individual premiums down enough to make my net premium less than by insuring 3 bikes.

Has anyone else ever seen anything like this? I'm kind of right now.

I think it assumes you will ride one of the other more expensive vehicles less

Even with the primary use being listed as "off-road"? Just seems odd, as every other bike I've added has made a minimal impact, if any. Guess that makes sense, if they're only going strictly off the number of vehicles on the policy though.

yup very common. This can also happen with auto insurance as well. also you have to add in the multi-vehicle discount.

When i had my R6, and i added a WR450 for street use, there wasn't an option to pay for the additional vehicle for just liability..

I used to always add my father's bike on my policy because it made my overall policy cheaper and he never rode his so I didn't have to worry about him filing a claim.

Progressive just went up on my auto policy by like $70/mo. Help me recover some of that and I'll buy those chairs of yours for your asking price!

I've never understood why they charge more for multiple vehicles if its just one driver. I could see theft coverage for when the vehicle is parked, but liaility for multiples when you drive one at a time is a ripoff.
