A lot of people think I am crazy because I gear up just to go around the block when I make adjustments or some BS like that.

Dude .. new years eve.. 2006/2007. My friend challenged me that i couldnt climb this huge paved uphill road at his ranch. I was on my mountain bike.. and bet that i could. I did. But on the way down i was looking at my gps watch to see how fast i could go... . I looked up at 40 mph and there was a sharp left with a drop off to huge rocky river bed. Needless to say.. my bike wasnt in the mood to stop so i grabbed rear brake, slid sideways towards rockydrop off. . fk that fk that. I then did only thing i could.. grabbed front brake . I flipped forwards onto my head and left sholder.. then left a trail of skin about 20 feet to STOP. I reseperated my shoulder, had road rash on my right cheek , shoulder, right forearm.. it hurt soo bad. I rang in the new year with my jeans stuck to my .. suked. I was wearing a helmet, +1 me.. I had just purchased my R1 december 06 and had a cheesy joe rocket mesh jacket and gloves. I thought, if this hurts that bad at 40, im saving my money and getting better gear, which i never ride without.. not even a mile.

The worst part was i had just got into a fight with my girlfriend.. I got back and she wasnt even talking to me.. eventually i got" see what you get for being a dik?" .
What did i win? two painkillers, a beer, and everyone at the ranch asking to see my .. which they all had huge laugh at. It was a friendly bet between two racers.. you know always challenging each other.

I am sure they were not gentle while cleaning you up. Nurses tend to be rough while treating if they find out you had no gear on...
