My bike also has carbs but I'll really like to get EFI, nothing wrong with carbs, they just take more time for tune ups (re-jetting and sync.) but once they are properly tuneup they are very reliable.

See most people lengthen the trailing arm, he's going to shorten it 4" so he has a mega-monster wheelie machine.

True...true.....So far they have never been tuned..!!! I removed the anti-tamper plugs and open the pilot screws 2.5 turns out to get rid of the "lean" settings from the factory.. Also removed what's called the EGR or air valve.

Re: My bike is having surgery today....

Chris,
Are you putting Keihins on? FCR's or round slides? What size? If you haven't already made a heat shield, installing one between the carbs and the manifolds will help.

Re: My bike is having surgery today....

Patrick, I WISH I could afford some nice carbs (flatslides) Ive thought about making a homeade "yoshi heat shield" wonder if it would work as good, heat soak suxorz. Wonder what I could make it out of? ABS on one side and aluminum on the other?

BTW Im just using regular ol 38's, my 36's took a dump.

BTW BTW This is Jerrels old slingshot, youve done work on it.

BTW BTW BTW Im not doing the surgery thing like I said I would, Ill spend that cash on the bike in another manner. right:

Re: My bike is having surgery today....

For a heat shield, try and find some phenolic material. It's easy to work with like ABS, but won't melt and can be used right next to the heat source without aluminum.

Re: My bike is having surgery today....

I thought that was Jerrels old bike. Glad it's still around.
The stock 38 's properly jetted work great, just check the emulsion tubes to make sure they haven't been worn.
You can make the heat shield from some clear .0125 thick vinyl and put some adhesive heat tape on the backside of it, and you can adapt some side cover from the later gen GSXR's for the carb side area. Do you still have the stock snorkle tubes?
