r6 starting issues

07 r6
Have to push start it for some reason now. Push starts and runs fine, won't start with the ignition it just cranks and never turns over.
Just put in a brand new battery to see if that was the cause and same thing.

What do I look at next, I assumed it was battery since it push starts fine.

before i crank it , battery is reading 12.x volts , it goes down to about 10 while im holding down the starter.

One thing I noticed is after after time I try and start it and stop, the gauge resets it self like it would when you first turn on the bike

Not that I know of honesltly. But im experiencing the same thing, kinda. Bike runs fine if push started. Yet only starts sometimes with the switch. Not sure if kill switch/button is bad or the starter. Luckily I have another starter sitting around.

I'm no expert but have you checked the ground wire? The one hooked up to your battery that's bolted to you frame underneath the tank. Might be worth checking into

I suppose the easy way to fix it is selling it and buying a Honda.

Does it have a power Commander? A friends r6 did the same (cranking/no start but would pushstart and run) and he threw alot of parts at the bike before he finally took the powercommander off and it fixed the issue. If it does have a pc is the light coming on?

Sounds like you need to trace the fuel and charging system. Possibly a bad kill switch/kickstand sensor? Like stated above, check your terminals and make sure everything is tight. Sometimes it's the dumbest things that ncause the biggest issues.
