Same problem about sitting at a turn light that refuses to change.

Contrary to popular belief, many of us are quite reasonable and just want to see some semblance of order, and people not doing things that are inherently dangerous.

This issue has really good arguments on both sides. This thread should last an eternity.

Had an HCSO deputy threaten to take me to jail over his PA if I didn't stay in my lane. I was going somewhere around 5mph (barely faster than if I'd just been pushing the bike, no joke) between stopped traffic on 59, around Stafford (right before HOV splits off into an isolated lane, inbound). Some don't mind, some REALLY mind.

Yeah and I got a ticket for turning left on a red light at 2 oclock in the morning with only one car in sight...
the cop, lol.

I lived down the street from the intersection and knew from experience that the light wouldn't trigger. So, I checked traffic, saw one car, way back behind me and went.
Instant lights. Oh well, win some lose some.

Legitimate question... What do they expect you to do in that situation? There's a light like that coming out of the subdivision my parents live in. I have to "run" it every time because it will never trigger.

Go straight on green (if left on arrow only) and U-turn, or make as many rights on red and legal U-turns as necessary to head in the direction you want to go. Nevermind that there's a law on the books that says traffic signals that register the presence of vehicle and change accordingly MUST be able to sense a motorcycle.

Interesting... Could you point us in the direction of said law? At any rate, it still doesn't make it legal to run a red light. There are many other options mentioned above if you don't want to risk a citation. With that said, I run the light in front of my neighborhood when there aren't any cars around for the same reason.

Gladly...and you're right. You'll still get popped for disregarding a traffic control device.

Quote:
Sec. 544.0075. CERTAIN TRAFFIC-ACTUATED ELECTRIC TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNALS. (a) This section applies only to a traffic-actuated electric traffic-control signal that consists of a traffic-control signal for which the intervals vary according to the demands of vehicular traffic as registered by a detector and that is installed and operating at an intersection.
(b) In addition to any other type of vehicle the presence of which the detector for the traffic-actuated electric traffic-control signal may register, the detector for a traffic-actuated electric traffic-control device to which this section applies must be capable of registering the presence of a motorcycle.

1. Lane Splitting is awesome.
2. Texas is embarrassing as a state. A state that claims they are rebels and fearing gun toting bad- but is scared of letting motorcycles (With no helmet law) from riding on a white line.
3. I lane split.
