How much for it and what size? I need a rear in about a thousand miles.

I find revzilla to have pretty good prices on tires, for my zx6r I have gotten most from cycle gear just so I can get the "road side protection". came in handy once, when I got a nail at a thousand miles in.

As for mounting, definitely learn to take both wheels off your self. It will save you a lot. I normally take my rims to House of Paint, and they get them put on quick so im back on the road really fast.

Also as for the few who have stated mile life, put what bike you where on. different bikes can eat up a tire faster or slower, so it helps in getting a better idea of what one might see if they get the tire also.

Sounds like a good idea for a thread.

I'm purchasing the PR4 rear and I see the PR4 GT for basically the same price. It has 1 polyester Sidewall Ply instead of two and weighs .8 lbs more. Any advantage/disadvantages to using this tire?

That's for heavy touring bikes. It's a stiffer carcass tire, so you won't get as much flex. Probably not a good idea to run these on a bike that's less than 550#. If the tire doesn't flex, you'll run out of tire sooner.

Not a problem. I wouldn't even consider running the PR4 GTs on my Strom, and it's 535# wet.

.8 pounds is a lot of weight difference for tires btw, that isnt static weight on your bike (like if you took .8 pounds from your exhaust)

The the .8 pounds would be rotating mass/weight, which affects acceleration more
