another thing about this that i find interesting is that he had no motorcycle endorsement. I see that so many times about bike wrecks. it's not hard to get so why don't people do it?

one thing i dont get is it is required to take drivers ed if you are under the age of 18. i think it should be everyone that wanted to get a license and no more of this my parents taught me at home . plus the class should be longer then 32 classroom hours and 14 in car hours. MSF should also be required before gettig your M endorsemen for every one no matter their age. i think you should also have to show proof of a M license before you are able to purchase a motorcycle new or before you change titles on a used bike.

That story is BS, The damage to the truck and bike would have been a of alot worse if he hit that truck hard enough to turn it sideways in its lane. The cops and troopers out here have a thing against bikers out here. I call BULLSHIT. But anyway, I will pray for him and his family, RIP.

agree with earlier about more damage. A bud hit a truck broadside on his busa at about 50mph and it completley took the whole rear axle out from under the truck, his bike looked worse than that also and he was only doing less than 50mph.

Let me give everyone a better idea of how this happened. It's not just the trucks fault alone. Chris, the rider, also made a HUGE mistake. It sucks for both parties involved.

Here is a rough overhead view of the strip of road and the place of the accident. This will give you a better idea of what both parties were facing at this scene. He hit the truck at the second entrance of the store (closest to the top of the map).

map

Keep in mind that this curve is almost a 90 degree in the road over about a 150ft. stretch. It's a very compact turn in the road not to mention the lack of shoulders.

1. there are 2 driveways for the store and 1 road that all leak out within and just south of the curve.

2. There is a wall of trees just to the north (or left on my map) of the CR 402 that go to the small ditch next to the road.

3. The speed limit for the road is 55mph.

Now, with all that in mind lets speculate for a min. If the rider was doing say 65mph approaching this turn... it would take an experienced rider just to navigate it without dumping the bike. Also.. at 65mph... if the truck was pulling out of parking lot of this store... he would have had about 3 seconds from the time he saw the headlight until he was hit. Granted this is all "speculation" but i drive this road every single day and have lived near this curve for about 10 years. This is not the first nor will it be the last accident to happen there due to the lack of road signs and/or cautions in place to warn motorists that this turn is almost a blind curve and as sharp as it is.

Now seeing how Chris lived in Dayton and i know for a fact he used to ride with a group in Baytown, i would suppose he had a good understanding of how this curve is and how dangerous it was to do over 40mph going into it. however... the truck also seems to have taken it's sweet time getting into it's own lane. Thats a common issue right there at that curve. To many "Slow Pokes" like to "swang" that hoopty instead of just getting to that lane a.s.a.p. I've almost hit countless vehicles there in the same situation Chris was in.

Either way... This was an unfortunate loss for Chris's family and must also be hard on the driver aswell.

Keep your heads straight people and don't for one second think your invincable... thats when the reaper will catch up with you.

Roland... From what i hear.. your a crazy ;-) This is Ryan's brother BTW.
