Track Bodywork

Ok peeps, it is time for me to buy some track glass for the Project and I am looking at some stuff on e-bay being sold by E-Racings and Pit-Ek. I know that they are not named brand stuff and I may run into problems mounting it up, etc., etc. but I just cannot afford $600 for some glass right now.

E-Racing wrote me back saying that if I can get a order of 5-9 then we get 5% off of $300. If I get 10+ orders we will get 15% off of $300. If I buy just one set then it is $350 shipped. I want to try to get a group buy on these things.

I was trying to find some reviews on E-Racings glass and on WERA there were numerous people saying that they mounted easily, good to paint, and crashed OK.

Who all wants to try and get some of this glass on a group buy?

Here is the thread on WERA. The members there often buy a LOT of bodywork (seems that group of racers has nothing better to do with their money sometimes... ): http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=137346

My favorite comment about them:

Caveat emptor again here folks... while it's inexpensive, it's also cheap. Not like Spec's Liquor "cheap" either
already did. friend bought some e-racing fairings and aligned up nicely and thicker than my godfather plastics.

do i win?:icon_bigg

Now you're going to make me search!

To wit, thicker is not necessarily better either. You want to see how brittle they are, they should bend without cracking, be strong with some give.

It's like I mentioned in the stuck thread, if you get the less expensive stuff that comes from Ebay or something, you will sacrifice something. Usually, it's fit, finish and being brittle vs forgiving. It's a fine line, which is why the Attack and Sharkskinz are so much more expensive. They fit right, every time and have awesome strength while being forgiving.

But like someone on WERA said in that thread, "I could buy 3 sets to one set of Sharkskinz, or buy 2 sets and a set of tires to one set of Sharkskinz".... touche' misseur ***** cat!
pit eck and e-racing is the same thing or at least they are using the same pics in both their ads.

does fitment really matter? unless they are oem i wouldnt get upset over 1/8 inch gap in certain places. the finish, i can understand if your looking for high $$$ paint.

I could understand that logic.

Tom I am the guy that bought those 600RR fairings from you back in like Feb and fixed them, they came out good.
I will take crashed fairings, repair them and buy me a set of tires and a trackday for a set of Sharkskins.

oh no.....FITTING is important as well. or else you'll get some bodywork that rests on your pipes and get's burned up. unless you guys wanna roll around with no bellypan (no offense to a few people i know that do this sometimes).....just not my cup of tea.

yeah....you can buy 3 sets to 1 set of attack/sharkskins....but do you wanna replace them and paint them each time you crash? my uncle bought that ....and he had to lay down 2 layers of fiberglass before painting and mounting.....he made it through 1 crash....and has to replace now.

those cheap bodywork shouldn't be called fiberglass......it's MAINLY MADE UP OF GELCOAT with 1...yes, i said ONE, layer of fiberglass.

i know everybody has a tight budget sometimes......but if you can't pay....don't play. it's your guys money, not mine.....so do what you gotta do.

Hotbodies used to be good, then they moved their production facilities out of the country and the new stuff is !

I'm with Tom and Tony here, buy good stuff that will crash well and is repairable. It'll pay for itself in the long run.

And if you want Hotbodies for $500.00, I can sell you that.
