not sure where you got that 0.27 figure for the Busa but there are no production motorcycles that are less than 0.480 drag CD.

This has been discussed in motorcycle mags many times. Even a well-faired motorcycle has way to much "dirty" air around it to be efficient.

+1

All I've ever heard about bikes is that they have inherently bad drag. Too little streamilining on the rear of the bike and too much "ground effect."

You need a BIG hump out back to settle the turbulence.

that .27 came from a quick web search.. guess that wasn't a complete calculation, just a drag number. Seemed awful low to me as well. Bikes are comparative "barn doors" with all their openings and odd shapes hanging in the wind.

...Now what I can share from my friend's witness account of the bike they are prepping for the Vegas debut, its a new bike. It has its own new design that is similar to the older Hayabusa in image, but is distinctly different, yet still "Hayabusa". The new aerodynamics will take Motorcycle technology another 10 years to perfect I am being told. There is huge amounts of Titanium used throughout the engine and exhaust system. The wheels are a copy of a popular racing design and much lighter than earlier styles. The engine comes with Three-Mode-Select...
, I may have to switch camps.

Any news on an updated ZX-14?

Sorry If This Is A Repost

Suzuki Announces Hayabusa 1500

Suzuki Motors USA announced today the introduction of the Hayabusa 1500, a 1498cc version of their top-selling sportbike.

“Since its introduction in 1999 the Haaybusa has been the unquestioned king of sportbikes,” said Hal Jalikacek, product manager for Suzuki. “It became apparent to us that some other company wanted to upstage us with a 1400cc bike. That just would not fly. We need to place ourselves back on top.”

The new Hayabusa will be available in dealers in May and will have an MSRP of $12,450. Top speed will be production-limited at 186 mph which can actually be reached in fifth gear of its six-speed gearbox. The new Hayabusa is also available with an optional supercharger, boosting its power output to 570 hp. The Hayabusa 1500SC will have the highest output of any production motorcycle by a large margin.

I still don't believe that is it in the above pic. Looks like a ZX14 nose, same busa frame and swingarm, exhausts and wheels. i don't think that is an actual picture but the wording may be close. on second look it was photoshopped just behind the black on the seat to put the ZX14 tail on it

yeah, but if the actual article was correct then that would be bad !!! but the amount of boost that would be required for that would be unreal and then the bike would not be reliable enough to market
