THE Manx Government is seeking a promoter to run the TT races and establish a TT World Series.

The World Series would see up to six TT-style races across the globe, with 20 to 30 of the top Superbike, Supersport and Superstock riders competing in a mass start.

The World Series could be launched in 2017, when the promoter would take over from the government's Motorsport Team and organise all aspects of the event.

The government deemed the idea viable after commissioning the London-based Sports Consultancy to examine the feasibility.

Promoters have been invited to submit plans for the event.

Matt Wilson of The Sports Consultancy said: 'The Isle of Man TT Races is one of the world’s truly great sports properties combining iconic heritage with state of the art machinery and strong brand values.

'We believe that it has huge untapped global commercial potential and on behalf of the Isle of Man Government are looking to identify a Promoter who shares the Government’s vision, will develop the event to the next level and deliver enhanced commercial value to the Island.'
