Houston honors Astros' Biggio in Hall of Fame celebration at Minute Maid Park

The Houston Astros are celebrating their first ever Hall of Famer Friday.

Fans will get a chance to congratulate Craig Biggio in person at Minute Maid Park. The event is free to the public.

It starts at the Union Station lobby. The atrium entrance and team store open at 3 p.m., the lobby opens at 4 p.m. and the event starts at 5 p.m.

If you go, you can also win items autographed by the Hall of Famer himself.

Be sure to tag your pictures with #KPRCBiggioHOF so we can see them!

Biggio will become the first Astros player ever elected to Cooperstown. He joins Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz in the class of 2015.

Biggio appeared on 454 ballots, 42 more than the 75 percent needed and up from 68.2 percent in his first appearance and 74.8 percent last year. He had 3,060 hits in 20 big league seasons, all with the Astros.

Jeff Bagwell fell short of the required 75 percent of the vote with 55.7 percent. Mike Piazza had 69.9 percent.

Roger Clemens garnered 37.5 percent.
