^^^^^^^They tech this to you in the driving portion while in police academy, the Cop knew the rule of pursuit and he broke it and chased the suspect anyway. The police officer is responsible for the lives lost in this chase.

And how are they going to legally decide what a 'Crotch Rocket' is? Stupid politicans. Keep dreaming.

Bans or restrictions on bikes could boil down to power to weight ratio, or just simple horsepower restrictions.

Bike restrictions could be very similar to "assault weapon" restrictions with very little objective reasoning involved in determining what bikes are to be subject to legislation. Like a Mini-14 that is legal with a regular stock, but illegal with a thumb-hole stock a sportbike could be banned because it has just one muffler instead of two. (just an example)

We take our freedoms for granted here in the U.S. o' A. Bikes could be gone in a flash. Like your guns, the best bet is to stockpile 'em up now, take care of 'em and have 'em forever.

Grandfather Clause FTW!

They can't ban the USE of bikes, they can keep them from being street leagal. But it's all bullshit, even if they tried, I honestly don't think that bill would even pass.

I was just speaking hypothetically. Obviously there is a huge motorcycle lobby that would decry any legislation pushing for an outright bike-ban, but don't be so obtuse as to think that bike-specific legislation couldn't be introduced (and passed).

Just think about all of the laws that we now have in place to protect us from ourselves.

Thank our liberal government for those.

if they were to ban the use of sportbikes on the streets. what would stop the usual sportbike users from riding on the street? cops already cant catch them. they could just twist the throttle and haul

wouldnt it actually raise the chance of a chase because the rider would most likely know that there is a ban and would want bike impounded and possible jail time so they would think about runnin before stoppin ???

We dont need a ban for this to happen. It happens everyday as it is. The bikes are so much faster and control so much better that its just a rush for most people that run to run because there is very little chance that cop would even get close to catching you without a chopper. Weighing your pros/cons...

Stop = Jail or heavy fines depending on the violation

Run = chance to most likely get away

Im not saying i agree but i am just saying in general.

there is no way they can ban any kind of motorcycle. That is pure stupidity. Even to say it was they motorcycles fault is pure stupidity...it is an on going investigation. no one knows except people got hurt/killed. They need to ban over zealous cops that hunt for a motorcycle chase to get their rocks off...and you all know they are out there. a few of us talked to one at pp1 a couple of weeks ago. This cop seriously told us he was on a specific unit that chased sport bikes with a dodge charger. He loved the chases.
