The motorcycle rider swerved in front of a civilian car and sped away, causing the officer's car to hit the civilian's.

clearly a high speed chase issue where the cop got in over his/her head..... they should have backed off... they had a video camera so they should have just reviewed the tape and gone after the registered owner of the bike.... but the adrenaline rush cause em to wreck and kill 2 people

they both hold blame, the cop hold it directly though, he is the one that hit the other car.

Don't know who to blame... the felony biker or the cop trying to do his job that got out of control...

blaming on the sportbiker. We are all guilty of speeding.

It's the police dept. that is making the sportbike community look bad, blaming on sportbiker for the death that the dept. causes. They had all the attention of the media and say what makes them look good.

So, since "we" all speed, it is ok?

Actually, it was a politician stating they should be banned. It was a bad deal either way, but "what if" the biker had not tried to run, cutting in and out of traffic, and had stopped instead? This story and deaths would not have happened at all.

It is the old story of the few spoiling it for everybody. If you want to speed, fine. If you get caught, take it like an adult and pull over.

If you speed and get caught, man up and take the ticket. If the cop did not have to chase the bike the accident would not of happened. The cop was performing his job so the fault lies with the bike. What if the biker was a bank robber or a murderer fleeing, would you still want the cop to back off? What if he did and the next week that same criminal caused the death of someone close to you? Whould you then blame the cop for the death? If you flee the police you are a criminal and deserve what you get or what you cause.

if it were in that situation, do you think the cop would have shot at him if their were people in the way? no the cop is clearly to blame for hitting the other car, yes the bike was running but the cop isnt supposed to chase if it endangers others lives

ya a horrible move on the cop, he cleary wasn't thinking. If motorcyclist start robbing banks and shooting people and getting away speedbikes they will be banned. But, they didn't go into detail on the felony charges, makes me think...

Imagine if it was someone close to you in an accident because the cop can't control his speed/vehicle. Who would you blame or sue?

We all take chances to speed and pay for the consequences when we are caught, running or not. If you run, you could killed yourself and others. If you come out alive, you still will pay for it the rest of your life. A ticket is a small fee compared to losing your bike, lawyers fee, jail time, restitution, and whatever else they charge you with.
