About 10 minutes into doing a sys check, the sumbitch would drop about 4-6' per second when yawing. Third try and using my diagnostics skills, before i could lay pattern to the issue, it landed hard and flipped over.

When to rearm it, and got some weird error beeps and lights

back to the house.

Investigating the issue, it was a speed controller went up. Well, ok, happens, and maybe this is why it was having a hard time when yawing.

Anyways,I break out the tools to remove the body, 3000 1.5mm screws later I am trying to seperate the top half from the bottom half. Break out the magnifying glass to see super glue on the seams! What dumbass superglues the two halves?

Now I need and ESC AND a body.

Not sure If I am going back to a stock shell or a better frame.....
That's why drones should never be allowed at a track event. Imagine losing control and hitting a rider.

body $35
ESC $35

Anytime you crash it check for cracks on the blades where they mount to the motors. They will crack, then break the rest of the way while your in flight.
It's not pretty.

If it lands hard the wires going down to the bottom of the landing gear will get pinched where it fits into the little notches, it costs $20 to replace. I'd recommend cutting a little bigger notches where they fit into the slots of the landing gear. They are for the compass sensor located on the tip of the landing gear and when they get cut it won't lock on the GPS and hold itself in place.

With that logic, no gopros either, I hear they come off from time to time......, lets ban the motorcycles too, when they crash, they can kill a rider too

Let's see how many times you crash it learning how to fly it, then we'll see how you feel.

I have heard talk of requiring tethers on gopros.

I'd really doubt if any track will allow drones now.

There are a lot of variables that you have to think about. Wind, transmitter interference (most transmitters run on 2.4 ghz the same as wi-fi), mechanical failure, battery dying in flight, etc.

Getting sued if you do hit someone or something.

Maybe if the drone didn't overfly the track. Stay to the outside of turns, alongside the straights, etc.
That would minimize any risk to the riders while still providing the opportunity for some new camera angles.

I'm sure MSRH and the new owners will require insurance that would make it not worth while unless you were like cory blair doing this for a living at all the motor sport events and track day events.

Its pretty cool that I can fly it to a spot and it will just hover there while I mess with camera settings. It stays near still even in wind

Any decent pilot would have saved that and brought it back down safely and trimmed it out. That was a total noob...
