Texas A&M tops Hartford, 58-49

Jalen Jones scored 12 points as Texas A&M wrapped up nonconference play with a 58-49 victory over Hartford on Saturday.

Mark Nwakamma led the Hawks (7-7, 0-1 America East) with 13 points.

The Aggies (9-3) led 42-36 with 7:48 remaining when Danuel House converted a three-point play after an offensive rebound to give A&M what appeared to be breathing room at 45-36, but the Hawks wouldn't go quietly.

Hartford' Taylor Dyson sank a 3-pointer to tighten the gap to 47-44 with 3:12 remaining. A&M's Jordan Green countered with two free throws and, following a defensive stop, Antwan Space put away the game with a reverse layup.

A&M won despite missing all 13 of its 3-points attempts, including six misfires by House. The Aggies open Southeastern Conference play at Alabama on Tuesday, while Hartford resumes America East play on Wednesday when it plays host to Binghamton.
