Pops Ride. Very similar to my fathers bike when he was a kid growing up in Egypt. His was a 125 this little jewel is a 1964 Yamaha Campus 60. We searched for several years for a 125 but this is as close as we got. This bike was rescued from a young man who had no interest in it. It was purchased in Abernathey Texas, surprisingly it had a Dealer sticker from Odessa which is where we live!

Super clean we tracked down the needed battery cover, but still need to recover the seat and replace the ignition switch and handlebar.

No name yet maybe Carl's folley.
After PROMISING not to buy anymore motorcycles for a while, yep you guessed it! Carl calls me while I'm out of town and says " But Honey! It's the same as my very first streetbike! And it's clean!" Well I never have been able to tell him no, so here it is Carls folley

Really all in all, a super clean survivor and daily rider dependable. And ride it, well he does quite often. This Bike is the same age as me and I see no redeeming charm at all. No power, weak brakes, outdated styling, but he loves it! Guess he has a thing for 32 yr olds!

So it's about 2008 and we are at Pâté Swap meet. We see this guy zoom by on an old "Cafe" style bike then later he goes by again. Sounds like a single cylinder and he is wail the guts out of it! Well we saw him once or twice more but never caught up with him till the next day. As it turns out, it was an RD60 and the old guy had pitched the blown 60cc 2 stroke and installed a Briggs and Stratton edger motor with a centrifugal clutch from a GoCart
$200 and it was ours offset by the sale of the motor $50. A few years later when a local Motorcycle Wrecking yard went out of business they had an $50 for all you can carry sale. Needless to say that scored us wiring harnesses, exhaust, brake pedal etc etc. probably one of my favorites but it has been on the back burner longer than any of our bikes at this point. It does have a YSR-50 motor in it and a factory exhaust, just hope it get some love soon!

Yo know Carl has pointed this out numerous times, Japanese Motorcycles have always been a pretty disposable commodity. Who knows why but the amount of these bikes that just get abandoned and left to rot is amazing. As Motorcyclists these Bikes are our heritage, and far more affordable to purchase, repair and restore than say, old American Bikes or Cars. An original new old Stock tail light for the RD60 was less than $20! The 1964 Campus 60 needed the ultra rare unobtainable battery cover. Months of watching EBay finally produced one,,, better sit down for this one,, it was less than $40! The '86 GSXR-750 Limited is an ultra rare expensive factory track weapon. Original parts are exhausted, obsolete parts plain nonexistent. Yet the PM Chicanes in 18"(yes Carl HAD TO HAVE PERIOD CORRECT) set us back under $500, Tokico 6 piston calipers came for free, as did SS brake lines, dual dry break fuel filler set up $75 or so. With some resourcefull shopping these bikes can at the least, become super cool static art or even better, they can once again become Riders! The next time you guys see one of these jewels behind a shed or in a barn, think about just how cool they are restored! If Carl had his way, there would be a Bike in every room of the house, as it is, he is restricted to the Mega-dollar Ducati and it's Evil Twin, the RC-51 in the Den! But trust me, with enough dish washing and flowers and cards, you could probably park one of these little jewels in your Den.
