Thumbs up Three Twisted Sisters SportBike Rally

Hey everyone!its been a while but we are back! We struggled for 10 years to make the Iraan SportBike Rally work, but in the end, it was just too remote and no attraction. Not to mention no participation by locals.
A rather unusual set of circumstances have brought us to re approach the SportBike Rally but this time we are moving it to the Three Twisted Sisters!
We already have use of the Air Strip for Drag Racing ( special thanks to "The Justified Ancients of Speed" for making this happen!)
There is a huge venue for a Non- Harley Motorcycle Show and while we can't endorse or condone any racing on public roads we have set up a Time Attack Ride on the Twisted Sisters.
Take a quick look here for more info and contact info. Or post up here or PM me.

Wait a second....

So you're not sanctioning a street race but you set up a street racing track?

Cool so U guys got that airstrip right where RR336 and 87 split to drag race? Seems like a good time but Im sure the locals are going to hate this!

I don't think they'll mind the drag races, at least that's in one spot and somewhat officially sanctioned.
They already don't like motorcyclists, and in particular sportbikes. They don't like the noise, they don't like the rudeness of being passed at 130mph and they especially don't like all the accidents and injuries... every weekend.
Have a big sportbike rally with a "wink-wink-nudge-nudge' race on public roads and the county judges are gonna see to it that the county makes a lotta money and that it don't happen again.
That's my prediction. On the other hand if it's only a few bikes, it'll just be another weekend.

Whew! Well let's look at a few things.
The "Motorcycle Pirate" Crowd has been going there and spending $$$$ for years, so they are used to Bikers.
Second they know we come, we ride, and we leave. So the idea of us hanging around and spending $$$$ makes them pretty happy. BELIEVE ME, they are going out of their way to help make this thing happen!

Drag Racing;
With some help from a group known only as "the Justified Ancients of Speed" and a local businessman an agreement was reached to use the Airport for Drag Racing. A quick FFA approval and the Races were approved!

Time Attack:
Well you know and I know there is going to be no racing on the Three Twisted Sisters, at least not on THIS weekend. So what is Time Attack?
A Rider rides the entire 3 Sisters AT THE SPEED LIMIT with a stop in each town to make a purchase. Ride to the starting point. This guy will represent the "perfect time".
On Saturday Riders will punch a time clock at the start line and make the ride with purchases. On return he punches the clock and presents register receipts. The closet to perfect time wins.
Look this isn't the Isle of Mann(not yet anyway) so we had to make some concessions.

They don't dislike Motorcyclists by any means, they LOVE,,,,
Our $$$
What they dislike is cleaning up our messes when someone crashes. It costs them down time on their Resources, it's a financial drain on the county and draws volunteer EMS workers into the danger zone.
Simple solution? Give them a piece of pie! The Rally is a Charity event benefitting Real county EMS and one downed Rider.
Granted if you go down and act like a total tool, they most likely will make an example of you, on the other hand turn it down a notch and they will likely turn the other cheek.
Guys, this is a business proposition to them.
Which is better? Gouging a Rider once for speeding and he never comes back, or get him to stay the Night drink in the bars eat buy shirts etc and come right back next year? Granted it's not an open Roadrace but it is some things we all want for ourselves, SportBike Riders. It's OUR Rally not SportBikes hanging out at a Harley Rally!

Think these guys don't like "SportBike Riders"?
A local businessman has already donated $1000 cash for Raffle items! The use of the pavilion for the Motorcycle Show was donated by a local businessman.
Shuttle service to and from bars? Yep you guessed it local businessman.
We fought for years to make the Iraan Rally work with little or no help from local businesses, these guys are throwing money at us before we have even showed up!
Granted the risk is high, but the rewards are higher! spending a weekend with people who share our sport.

Now that you explained it, it doesn't sound so bad.
We should define who we mean by "they". There are probably those in the municipal and county govts. that welcome the revenue and are willing to work with you. That's YOUR "they".
My "they" are the ranchers and people who live in the towns, the local cops and the 1st responders. They don't like motorcycles, especially sportbikes.

I can't keep people from doing anything that much is for sure, but what I can do is provide some pretty entertaining events. We are working with a Professional Photographer to try and do some "KillBoy" type photography that you will be able to purchase on site in the evenings.
I'm really trying to cast as wide a net as possible to try and draw as many Riders, make that, SportBike Riders as possible.

Great news just finished a meeting with the Christian Motorcycle Association they are going to provide us with support Volunteers(ticket sales, armbands, Rodeo etc) through their Fast Lane ministry. This is a major hurdle. Manpower is always a big dilemma and with Fast Lane handling it we can focus on more areas!
Which brings me to;
We are listed on MeetUp with SA & ATX chapters of Texas SportBike Riders, here, Two Wheeled Texans, so how about recommendations for other MeetUp groups or area forum boards? Help me out here guys! The more we get the word out there the bigger this thing will be.
Thanks!
