Opinions on selling my bike

Ok so I have been trying to sell my bike. I have someone who wants to buy it but here's the deal. She wants to give me 500 now with the garauntee of paying it off in 3 weeks. I am holding on to the title and the bike until it is paid in full. Should I write up some kind of contract? Tell her I get to keep partial deposit if it's not paid in time, and refund the rest. Is there any possible way I can get screwed? Since I am so far away she offered to deposit the money into my paypal account which I don't see a problem with, I HOPE. Please no flamin... I just need advice/suggestions. Thanks:notworthy

you should take the 500 bills, but have her sign the contract, in very small font size......like 2 type that she has to pay in full before you release the bike and she has to pay in exactly 504 hrs = 21 days the time the paypal is sent thru if not.............BREACH of contract = instant litigation.

tell her to pay you in full up front.

if she says she doesnt have the money, tell her to borrow it from family or friends...

if she says she doesnt have any family or friends who would loan her the money...why would you trust her anymore than her they would???

Ok.. Good on the 1st..
And YES!! Absolutely yes get it in writing.

Not too bad of a deal if the buyer is really interested.

I'm am sure hoping so. Her reasoning is because she is moving. And doesn't have a place for the bike. In three weeks she will be settled in, have to rest of the money, and a place for the bike.

Write a contract. You keep the deposit if your not paid in full by the deadline set in the contract. The deposit is your compensation for taking the bike off the market. Its just a business transaction, nothing more.

If you have a lawyer friend get them to help you with a contract. Unless this is someone you know wont run off the cash then dont do it. Make sure you have their full information. Keep the title until they pay in full. Honestly, I would rather take at least 1000 up front.

Im trying to get rid of my bike pronto....just need to clean to carbs and put on a new chain. I also need the title in my name. I was thinking I could get ~1300 up front and then when the title comes in I would scoop up the rest of the cash and give them the title. I was planning on writing some sort of contract too.

Dont let the bike go until sale is final!!!!!

Im telling you from experience of watching friends be dumb and get screwed over by each other or even other people they let make payments. The "Yeah, ill take the bike and just make your payments plan" never works! Cover your man! Your the only one looking out for you.

I realize this isnt letting them make payments but its a recipe for the same bad situation.
