Who has a dyno and knows how to operate it. Putting new programmer on bike and would be nice to get some before and after info together for my RZ forum. I am in the Spring area.

Variing Results

I have a friend that races AMA and he's taken his bike to different places to get aa dyno tune and results and they seem to vary quite a bit......

98 oct. oxygenated all the time. (Mmmmm, smells pretty, like perfume, )

Why would this be?

And what does this tell you?

It tells me one or both of them is not calibrated correctly.

Yes - that's where I'm a little confused on dynos.

My dyno IQ (Ignorance quotient) about dyno operation leads me to this question then: Do you tell the technician that you want a certain goal and he sets your bike up with the right fuel, injuctors, turbos, frame arrestors, subwoofers, exhaust, yada yada, and then you will achieve your goal - - -

BUT - -

----If you go to another technician, he gets different results on his dyno so he wants to set your bike up a different way?? i.e. the new guy picks different fuel so he has to change oil in your ECU, differtent fuel injector settings, oil, curb feelers, etc, etc . . . . .?

So you actually end up in the same place but with different components in place???

Could be different makes, models, years, and or software in the dynos

Some of it is due to differences in barometric pressure, humidity and temperature. Even fuel temp can bea factor.

also there are "corrected" and "uncorrected" readings.

+1 for the Eddycurrent Dyno at Metric Motorcycles

The 111.5hp at Lunsford read a 105.2 at Metric.

I ran my Honda V65 Sabre @ a Harley Dyno day and it made 136 RWHP (they only made 121 @ the crank NEW back in 1984)..... At the end of the day I talked to the dude running the Dyno and he told me that he "adjust" the reading for the type of bike/s he is running that day...... he almost didn't run my Sabre because he would have to reset his software, but since there were not too many people around to see what a HONDA would pull.... he went ahead and ran mine.... I have made a couple of runs on my bike at other places and it does about 98 RWHP......
