mp3 player, if you're coming on 290, a good stop would be at the shell gas station right after blinn college. good food, and a good time to fill up on gas. other than that, fun ride, and hardly any troopers

+1 on the water. Hot weather and wind will cause to dehydrate rapidly.

+1

its kinda weird after being on the highway cruising for an hour or two and exit. you loose all sense of speed, and feel disoriented for the next few minutes until you stop.

as for the camelbak, i recommend getting the mule or hawg. the hold 3 liters of water, but only i recommend you only carry half that. 3 liters is too much liquid to drink on a short trip, and also weighs you down. 1.5 is perfect.

reason i still recommend the 3L capacity paks is they hold more cargo. you cant carry a backpack and a camelback so get one you can carry a decent amount of stuff in. its also nice to have the option to carry more liquid in case you go camping or do a trackday etc...

Stop and drink lots of beer, make a stop at least every 20 minutes. Or go with the mule and fill it with cold beer. Or get two camel packs, one with jack, one with coke. You should be fine.
