I think the r6 is a better track bike, but for the streets the ninja all the way.
zx dominance originally said the 09-12 zx6r was the best for that generation. I don't any expert used those while several had r6's.

The 07 R1 is the simple choice IF the bike is in great shape and seems to be maintained. Even a slap wore out R1 will still spank a ZX6R... Looks better too...

Of course not and I probably put just a few more miles on my CBRs than you've got on that Grom

Good now people have some data from someone who has owned several flawless cbr's. None of which have leaked.

This OP is CLEARLY looking for a streetbike. That being said, short of "expert level CMRA racing" .. the ninja wins hands down. Look at every street or track shootout. Or just get on a couple stock bikes on the street.

yea yea for .01% of riders the r6 is faster at race pace with RACE UPGRADES. Cool beans.

I've had well set-up r6's and zx6s, and I can tell you, I did feel smoother on the r6, but I wasnt faster though. You can cry about electrical issues etc, but I have heard very little in the way of major kawi issues on the zx6s. The zx puts down more power, over more of the graph, has better brakes, and better suspension. Now, a percentage of that is subjective, but trying to make race comparisons on a street post, that's going full-.

BTW- I ride Kawi and Yamaha. hehe

A caveat- the lastest gen r6's have very reliable motors. Mine went to 39k tracking with no issues before parting out. Many friends are in the 30's now. However... these bikes are absolute dogs on the street. Gutless, touchy, no damper, but veeeeeerry smooth. I love the yamaha powerband (but on the streets i like that 998cc version) for racing, but around town theres almost no excuse to be on one. Ive had all major makes of late model 600s, and the honda is IMO the best street bike. R6 and kawi vie for track prowess, and the gsxr is the most comfy. But I cant be caught dead on a gixxah.

Anyways, rant over

I can pull easily on 09-12 zx6r's with my 09 r6...

For a street bike no amount of numbers matter, pick the one you like more. End of story.

Wanna Race!
I have raced many R6's and stock vs stock my zx is ever so slightly faster(in a straight line).
Now that could mean im hitting the gears better,or im lighter around the belly.
Personally i say the zx6r and the r6 are pretty much on the same page power wise.

So what do you have done that you can pull on a zx?

Mine still pulls super strong, and it's been reliable, as any well maintained bike should.

In case no one noticed, or I misread, he got a gsxr on the first page.

At any rate, comfort is important to me. I was going for a vfr but the price tag was a bit high, the kawi was comfortable for a ss and I did like the sportier attitude. The zx7 was a bit small and short (still wonder how I would've liked it after getting used to it). I shot for the middle and have been happy since I walked out of the showroom with it.

Everything besides motor work. Same as the zx6 I was going against.
