Inspection is a PITA

so i finally got the bike going after swapping the motor out, went up to get inspection the other day and i notice when i get there that someone broke my front turn signal. no big deal, ill buy a new set, ductaped it on started my inspection.. Came time to check the tires and my front was totally balled (planned on driving it to patrick to get new wheels once i was legal). well balled tire means no inspection. So i buy a used front from someone on the board. get the gf to mount it while im at work. put it on last night.

Well i went up there today, everything checked out until he said "horn" ....MY HORN DOESNT WORK all the sudden. has voltage, horn must be bad. so ill have to get another one tomoro. Im also very worried that they are going to reject my rear tire . all this city driving has it to the wear marks in the very center but the edges are BRAND new.

I wish i could just order inspection off the internet or find a place to just give me the SOB already, im getting really tired on this and everytime i drive to the inspection place without inspection risk another $125 ticket for inpection more than 60 days over due.

if anyone could help my situation please pm me

You need to learn the art of "tipping". :topsecret You will be amazed at how well a Jackson handed with your insurance papers will make someone overlook something.

go get a horn from a dollar store. The way the law works it just has to honk. It can be one of those bicycle horns with the rubber ball on the end. The one you squeez. You know the one I am talking about?

haha thats great. Well ill get the horn but anyone have any suggestions on the rear tire? I dont have the cash this paycheck for another new tire. I mean it has like 500 miles on it...literally. now 99% of those have been to UH and back so they are all directly in the center of the tire, hence why im at the wear marks....with virgin sides....

what kind of tires are you running that you only get 500 miles from by commuting in a "straight line"? I wanna make sure not to buy those. If they really did wear out in the center in 500 miles I would tend to think there is some other factor than normal riding....maybe lots of whoolies, inadequate air pressure, too much air pressure....Can't help you on the tire deal....maybe post a separate thread asking for a reartake off tire at a discounted rate and then take the wheel & tire (off the bike) to Patrick or any shop and have 'em mount and balance for ya. most shops charge 10-15 if that's what ya do. G/L!

Wow, I am amazed that you overlook those items when you are riding a machine that could kill you. I mean come on...not knowing that your tire is bald, and then with the blinker broken, how do you not notice that? And then again with the horn. When I rode, I used the horn all the time to alert drivers of my presence. Next it will be your chain or yout brake pads. geezus

Well here is my reasoning. the inspection place is 1.2 miles from my house, a straight road 99% of the way there with no side streets. in the past 2 months i have padi 2 countws em 2 inspection tickets totalling about 290 and i really wanted to get inspection before even riding it at all. SO i was doing test runs around the block to check the motor mounts and wanted to get inspection so i can do many more test runs without tickets.

Well maybe it will make someone stop to think about it and it may just save their life.

I don't want it to be assholish either. but oh well, if it saves a life then so be it right? Take it from someone that almost lost their life and only has half of it back.

you had ten days to get your inspection done and the ticket dismissed. why pay two inspection tickets while u say you were doing a motor swap. were you riding it while doing the swap? this doesn't make much sense bro.

I typed it and deleted it. 85% of MH thinks I'm a big, mean, controlling biotch so I decided to back down. Thank you for "standing up" for the RIGHT way to do things.

It went something like...

There are reasons things like tire tread and blinkers are checked during inspection - it is for your safety and the safety of everyone around you on the road. Not everyone looks at their tire tread or sees the front or back of their bike except when it's parked. The inspections are an attempt at keeping everyone out there up to par.
