F1 racing

Who here watches Formula One racing?

I grew up in Europe and it is sort of a family tradition ...

Just wondered who here is into it since it is now coming to North America for this season with the next race in 11 days in Montreal and soon coming to Indianapolis.

Sweet. Cool pics!

What made you quit racing those cars? They look like fun!

Followed but never raced.

F1

Truly addicted, and have been for some years. I TIVO Fri. Practice Sessions as well as Saturday qualifying and pull my arss up out of bed early on Sunday's to watch the races live. The coverage isn't bad, the announcers are a hoot and the racing well there's a reason it's the sports pinnacle. The cars are simply amazing, the dollars spent at this level are mind blowing.

HP used to sponsor BMW in F1 but now pulled out of it. Actually, Compaq started it and then, when we merged, HP kept it for a while... Sucks because when we had Indianapolis coming up, they invited Montoya to Houston and he held a Q & A with autographs. I have the autograph somewhere, hated the guy. I told him to his face I wish they had sent Ralph instead of him. His body guard cracked up laughing... Montoya is a very cocky guy, I am glad he isn't there anymore.

Montoya is racing in NASCAR now ... a fitting setence if you ask me. I hated him when he was in CART too.

Yeah, I know. Let him run around in circles now. :laughing6

He did swap with a NASCAR driver once who drove his F1 car. I wonder if that is where he got the idea? Either way, I am glad he is gone.

I am excited about Hamilton. I can't wait for him to win a race. He is doing absolutely amazing!

i follow it closely. If i remember correctly Montoya swap with Jeff Gordon but not too positive about it. Hamilton had the win in Monaco but team orders (they just don't accept it) made Alonso win, he had 5 more laps to go and they pit him sooner to make the car heavier and be behing the hated alonso. I hate alonso.

I didn't know that. That would really suck!

Massa's look was priceless though....

Massa is a cry baby, good rider but not tough enough. Kimmi is partying too much, can't get his chit together. Hamilton is good and hungry but being second driver doesn't help much if you have alonso as your number one driver. In fact the federation was investigating if there were team orders to make alonso win, as you may know team orders in formula one are illegal as in who wins.

Yeah, big issues in the Michael Schumacher time. I am sad that he is gone, being a big Schumi fan, but at least racing is again interesting. My dad's best friend once said "Schumi is racing Formula One, not sure what the rest is racing .." :laughing6

i thing is going to get more interesting once they take the TC (traction control) out. Then you will see real skills. Schumi was a in the track but good rider.

Yeah, can you imagine?

They just brought it into motorcycle racing (officially) and they are taking it out of F1. Very interesting. I imagine we'll see a few more of those expensive crashes. :eh:
