NFL running back Adrian Peterson to appeal suspension at New York hearing

NFL running back Adrian Peterson is set to argue for his reinstatement to the NFL before an independent arbitrator Tuesday.

Peterson arrived for his hearing Tuesday morning in New York City. Peterson and the player's union are appealing the league's decision to suspend him without pay for at least the rest of this season.

Conversations between Peterson and NFL Executive Vice President Troy Vincent are reportedly at the center of the appeal.

The Minnesota Vikings star was suspended for violating the NFL personal conduct policy after he admitted to disciplining his 4-year-old son with a switch earlier this year in Montgomery County.

He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor reckless assault charge last month.

As part of the punishment, the NFL said Peterson would not be considered for reinstatement before April 15, 2015.
