Opinions/Advice on kids gear.

I taught my My 8yr old daughter to ride the 50 the other day, and shes all excited about riding and wants to ride all the time now.

Problem for me? Gear. She has none. I don't want to really go out and buy new stuff that's only going to fit her for a short period of time.

What does everyone else do in the situation?

How about a helmet with interchangeable pads to adjust the size?

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...WT.MC_ID=10010

Then either buy knee/elbow pads and gloves as she grows out of them or pull shoulder and elbow pads out of an old jacket, trim them and sew them into a denim long sleeved shirt. Then you just have to keep up with knee pads and gloves. Pretty much what my brother and sister-in-law were looking at doing for my nephew before my brother stopped riding.

There's also a gear swap/exchange site on Facebook where all the MX parents swap out for free or cheap, not sure if the name I will look into it.

Im holding onto the stuff my son out grew for my daughter other wise I would hook you up. Its a pain in the to find decent used gear for kids, I was the same way about not wanting to buy new because it would be out grown quickly.

Maybe have a pay it forwad/ cheap gear thread just for kids

Looks like replacement liners are less than $20. Might want to grab the larger sizes to have on hand when you need them.

A one stop shop at Jafrum w/free shipping if you buy the helmet and at least one liner.

What size is she Chris, we have an 8 year old that is outgrowing her gear so we are getting new stuff for christmas

Pant size 6
Jersey size S
boot size 1 (i think)

Otherwise, Cycle Gear has a big sale right now on the bilt stuff plus, Rockymountainatvmc.com has a big clearance section too.

FYI, get the cheap , they may lose interest in it quickly plus, they do grow out of it quick.

Chris, remind me I have a new pair of goggles and gloves your daughter can have. They are left overs from my kids. My kids never used them. I can bring them to the next meet.

Shaines old suit was given to another CMRA racer, Haydens old suit is at Moto Liberty. I have to look around, but believe I may have a pair of Alpine Stars boots, a Scorpion helmet, extra pair of gloves ......may part with Tarah's leathers as she is not riding anymore. We definitely pay it forward because kids grow like weeds and the money in our wallets does not.
