Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at QB for Texans vs. Titans

Houston Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will replace injured Ryan Mallett and take over the starting job again this Sunday versus the Titans at NRG Stadium.

Local 2's Randy McIlvoy said center Chris Myers and Fitzpatrick acknowledged Wednesday that he would be the starter.

Fitzpatrick lost the starting job during the bye week after going 4-5. Mallett is 1-1.

Mallett is out for the season, according to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport tweeted that an MRI showed Mallet tore a muscle in his pectoral, a source told him. He said the source claimed Mallett's season is over.

However, on Monday afternoon Texans head coach Bill O'Brien Bill O'Brien did not confirm the report.

"Mallett's still being evaluated, so basically we'll have more at the end of the week," said O'Brien.

Last week's injury report listed Mallett as having a chest injury, but he remained in the lineup vs. Cincinnati. He looked inconsistent throwing the football and never got into a rhythm with his receivers.

The Texans are 5-6 after Sunday's 22-13 loss to the Bengals. The team hosts Tennessee Sunday at NRG Stadium.
