Can I just say there is probably no excuse for getting off in the middle of the road. Our TAMUMC trip out there (just two weeks ago) nearly ended with 3-4 of us in the hospital when we came over a ridge at mach1 and there were jackasses in the middle of the road taking pics.

Beautiful bikes and scenery, but gtfo of the roadway, please.

Edit 2: there are actually MULTIPLE SCENIC OVERLOOK SPOTS, designed for taking pics, with WIDE OPEN EXTENDED SHOULDERS

While I agree with you that they probably shouldn't have been stopped in the road taking pictures, it is always the operators responsibility to control their speed to be able to avoid collisions. If you came "over a ridge at mach1" and couldnt have reeled it in and slammed into them, they might have gotten cited for obstructing a roadway, but you would have also been cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.

Bottom line, especially with the Sisters - dont over drive/ride your line of sight.

Frickin' TAMUMC...

Hahaha. I said ALMOST. We go fast but have people divided into groups based on skills, and thankfully I'd done enough trackdays/have enough experience to avoid the collision while making sure no one slammed me from behind.

We had 22 people go out and no accidents in 3 days. It was a breath of fresh air, really.

But that said- there's seriously no reason to be in the middle of the road when there are SOOOOOO many places to take pics that are safe

Sounds fun. I was out on hwy 39 on the north and south fork for a couple hours on Saturday, but then again it's my backyard, so quick rides are easy.

Yeah, stopping to take pics in the in the road is kinda a 'tard move.

While I appreciate your concern...We ride these roads at least twice a year and have done so in large groups of 20+ and small rides of just a couple. Most people that wreck on these roads are riding over their skills limitations and or riding "Mach1" into blind corners.

My friend noticed a photo opp and there was no traffic, so I said why not, we took precautions made sure no traffic was on the road and or coming, there was plenty of shut down room, we took quick pics and continued our ride.

And yes we know of and have taken pictures off the shoulders in the past.

You're only talking about bikes. I'd be more worried about the local in the F350 that knows the roads like the back of his hand, can drive them blindfolded, that's texting and not really paying attention to the road. Familiarity breeds complacence, and those F350 mirrors hang over the line on those narrow roads. They'd leave a nasty mark on those bikes parked with their wheels over the line.

Those roads are so quiet and open you could hear a vehicle coming from miles away. I'm glad you guys are so worried about us but we weren't worried and everyone is perfectly fine. I'm sure "no one" on this forum, including yourselves ever take any risks that could be questioned and debated all day.
I'm noticing a trend here that some people on this forum would rather "rag" on any one for doing anything they don't agree with instead of enjoying the camaraderie of everyone on here in their passion for motorcycles and riding in some shape, form or fashion.

You can never please these people on here, so don't sweat the talking. You could have taken those pics at one of the scenic overlooks and you would have done that wrong too..ha

Nice pics and thanks for sharing...hopefully I will get up to the sisters soon and enjoy those roads.

it' and miss. The thing about forum's, is everyone has different opinions! This is both good and bad and you have to take it that way.

That being said, I may or may have not done the same thing on a few other roads across Texas

Oh I do understand that is the thing about forums and internet... And that's exactly what I did, supported and gave my opinion on the comments...
