Report: Texans QB Ryan Mallett out for season

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett is out for the season, according to insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport tweeted that an MRI showed Mallet tore a muscle in his pectoral, a source told him. He said the source claimed Mallett's season is over.

Mallett was 1-1 after replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter. He's thrown for 2 TDs and 2 interceptions in the two games.

Either Fitzpatrick or rookie Tom Savage are the internal candidates to replace Mallett.

The Texans are 5-6 after Sunday's 22-13 loss to the Bengals. The team hosts the Titans Sunday at NRG Stadium.

We'll have much more coming up on Local 2 News beginning at 4pm.
