Perhaps dust and rain will get in there.
Put a ram mount X grip there. I did. $45 bucks for the setup.

But wait, if it happened on ur 2014 cbr1000rr, be cautious.
My friend has a 2012 cbr1000rr n even tho it was "universal", he had to modify it using some other stuff, cutting it with some tool, then it worked.
My zx6r and friends 2014 cbr600 worked perfectly.

I dont know exactly what each part is called but i know theres a rubber - like cone u put down the hole n it attaches to another piece then finally the X grip. Twas 3 pieces and u can for sure buy them separately.

I guess u can simply wedge in any cylindrical rubber piece n close off the hole. Since, in essence, thats what i have in mine. No need for a cap then.

Are we talking about a stem nut or a cap on top of the stem nut? One is a much bigger problem than the other.

Good call.

Are you missing item #18, or item #26?
HM0614010028

If it's just the plug (#18), personally I wouldn't worry about it as every steering stem I've seen is hollow all the way through anyway.

I'll bet it's #18. They come off at triple digits frequently. You can afford to get one from a Honda dealership. If not, then you can't afford fuel so just sell the bike

It's only a cosmetic cap. It doesn't do anything except cover the hole
