Experimenting with my camera...

So, most of the portrait work I've been doing at work has been getting boring. Since the Astro's are losing (again) I thought I'd experiment a little with my ceiling fan! I think they came out kinda cool.

It's not really 'how' to take macro shots, but 'with what' you take macro shots... you need a macro lens (or extension tubes). Lenses have a minimum focus, which means you can only get so close to your subject. A Macro lens will usually have a very small minimum focal distance which allows you to get RIGHT up on the subject. I currently don't have a macro lens, so I'm somewhat limited... but I am ordering a new sigma macro lens this week! So, once i get some shots with it I can post them up there.

*Disclaimer, even with a macro lens you still need to know the basics behind lighting, aperture, shutter speed and ISO to get a quality shot.

This is about as 'macro' as I can get with my current lenses... Now, I could crop them some to make the pics more of a close up... but I just wouldn't have the amazing detail that you can get with a good macro lens.
