I'm not brand loyal and I didn't give two when buying a Honda that it was slightly behind on paper. I like it's mid range power, Handles well and looks good.... But to each their own I suppose.

Yay for using your head when purchasing a bike and picking what you like the best. Instead of just picking number in a magazine.

How Aprilia won the manufacturers championship and the riders championship was won on an Aprilia for wsbk?

Also Honda has never won a manufactures championship in wstk, which is the closest thing racing stock bikes. Last time a rider one the championship on a Honda was 2000 and probably wasn't on a Cbr1000rr.

Btw I'm an r6 rider now, same as falcon, it's the best bike I could afford. At my skill level any bike will go as fast as I can take it.

I'm starting to wonder if some of the people bashing the SP model have actually owned and ridden a bike with full Ohlin's suspension! The Brembo MC and rods is another story, I'm focusing strictly on the suspension here. Nothing against Showa or WP; but Ohlins is by far the best suspension set-up money can buy! The Panigale S with full Ohlins is going to cost you 22K; the Aprilia Factory 21K, the HP4 around the same. So for some folks that want the best suspension in the world and do not want the expensive maintenance of the Italian Superbikes, the 17K Fireblade is a bargain! Most numb-nuts on here wouldn't know what to do with 190HP superbike anyway, so all this talk about the Hondas being underpowered and whatnot is total ! I'll take handling and suspension over HP output any day! Bevo's point is that for 17K you get a reliable Superbike with full Ohlin's suspension! If you were to take a regular Fireblade and add all the same components the SP has it would cost you significantly more money! So you people bashing the Honda think it's over-priced or what? If you don't like the Honda, then don't buy it! If you need more HP because you have a small and have money coming out of your buy the Italian bikes!

Ohlins does make really good suspension, whenever you buy a bike that comes with Ohlins stock its not as good as the aftermarket stuff. Its the cheaper/more cost efficient version.

For instance, the hp4 comes with suspension. But for a competitive racer you end up swapping that suspension for the good stuff.

Lol this would make it another thread, but you can go just as fast on ohlins then you can on penske/traxxion, its just that penske/traxxion are pushed more in our region thats why everyone always wants to say penske is good for our bumpy tracks.

Yeah I like Hondas too; but my HP2 and Ducati had full Ohlins and if Kyle Racing still offered them for the RC51 I would have installed Ohlins instead of Race-Tec. The point I was making is that for 17K it's not a bad deal! Now any short-comings the bike has with design or lack of power is for another day.

Hmm why is everyone saying the cbr is slow it still has more torque than the other liter bikes and more mid range and better 0-60 times and 1/4 times even betterth an zx-10 not to mention readily available parts and history of being reliable. The bike is the perfect street bike what it wasmade for. Its also very easy to ride i personally love the bike the only thing it.needs is moe.high end power which i never use id just want. In my opinion cbr>
I just think sp is overpriced.

I think itd be a great street bike, id buy the standard 1000rr and save the $3-4k because reading the differences between the standard and sp its not much. You can get it separately and itd be better. Bike is great for wheelies too.

I just came in when the discussion led into the bike being a competetive race bike and id argue that. But I would agree that the bike is a good street bike.
