The first rally I ever went to was Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach, back in 2008. Rode my Hyosung down there with a couple of buddies. The part I found really amusing was looking for parking so we could go walk around, and there were entire lots where there were nothing but trucks/trailers and people unloading bikes so they could go ride them down the main drag. Even sat there long enough at one point that we saw some people unload, leave, make the loop, then load the bike back on the trailer before heading back to walk around.

This is why I don't think I'll be doing more rallies though. I enjoy trekking across several states with a few buddies, camping out and drinking, seeing new places, just enjoying ourselves and time spent on the road. Sitting on a hot bike in a sea of wheel-to-wheel bikes moving at less-than-walking speed for a couple of hours just so I can park it with several thousand other bikes doesn't hold the appeal it once seemed to have for me.

I went out and road down to go get lunch and some stupid tried to run me over. I was in the lane next to her and she didn't even look as she just pulled into my lane. Had to take to the turn lane to avoid her.

Its good for the motor, particularly when its cold and the oil hasn't had a chance to flow from the pan and interfere with high rpm operation (the oil actually causes a lot of internal resistance)... DUH.

Are your ear plugs extra special so that you can only hear your bike with its bouncing of the rev limiter?
Worried your friends will forget you so you issue the motorcycle equivalent of a cry for help?
You just love being able to pull off the hat trick of simultaneously annoying everyone around, disparaging the imagine of motorcyclist everywhere all while looking like a total newbie?

Surely you can't think it somehow cool....
If you think its a form of moto communication all it communicates is that you are a narcissistic douche desperately overcompensating for a lack of respect or confidence in other areas of life.

If you’re trying to impress the ladies, please notice that you have yet to hear an attractive vixen come up to you and say “ oh my your bike is SOO loud” or better yet, notice the girls who do ride, you will note they DON’T have slash cut exhaust nor bounce the rev limiter at stops.

Do us all a favor and grow the up!

Rant complete.

I know a couple of shop owners that LOVE the LSR just for this reason. They were there drinking and watching the show and smiling every time that a HD was hitting the rev limited. I asked why and they responded "we get to see these guys next week in the shop".

the sound was annoying to me but said CHA CHING to them.

you can't? seems like you'd be better off doing it on the bike (open air) than doing it in a closed up car. also, it was everywhere on the streets at LSR

I don't ride much with the HD crowd so I can't really comment on their habits, but the sport bikes guys tend to be the biggest culprits. I hate stereotypes but if its got an extended swing arm and no muffler 10 will get 20 the rider will pin it at a stop or start at least ten times.

It was a joke, I don't even smoke and I don't attend the LSR.

But smogging out a car with your friends is way more fun than smoking in the street!
