What might be useful, is to dig up statistics for accident regarding motorcycles being rear-ended at stop lights/intersections etc.

Wouldn't stop a leo from ticketing you, but might be helpful in defense should one get ticketed.

I was told by several DPS troopers and they all said that it is illegal in books but if you excercise this lane splitting safely, there would not be a problem. So, let's hope that the officer that sees you splitting isn't in a bad mood. Besides worrying about the law, you should worry about the driver in a car. Many people have problems with people cutting in line and they would do anything to stop people from cutting/splitting. Even if it is legal, the ignorant will think differently will try to cut you off.

This is your only defense when you go to trial. Better to be safe than sorry I say.
