Ryan Mallett named Houston Texans starting quarterback

After a brutal loss to Philadelphia Sunday and a bye this week, Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is making a quarterback change.

O'Brien announced Wednesday that Ryan Mallett will be the team's starter at QB. The Texans play Cleveland on Sunday, Nov. 16.

Mallett replaces Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has been ineffective in recent weeks. Wide receiver Andre Johnson expressed his frustration on Monday, saying he wants to get as far away from here as possible during the bye week.

The Texans are 4-5 as they head into the bye week.
